Caleb Causey of Lone Star Medics will be coming to the Tactical Arts Academy to present his excellent course, Dynamic First Aid. This course is a basic first aid course which teaches individuals how to keep someone alive and stable enough until EMS arrives. Just activating “911” alone is sometimes not enough. The subjects in this course will prepare you for most medical emergencies. Subjects from broken bones, profuse bleeding, burns and other life-threatening injuries will be discussed. Each student will demonstrate how to deal with each injury by practicing hands-on skills throughout the course as well as multiple scenario based training sessions. This course is 8 hours. Some of the subjects covered in this course:

- Medical & Legal Issues
- Scene Safety
- Patient Assessment
- Identify and treat penetrating & blunt traumatic injuries
- How to properly utilize tourniquets, pressure dressings, hemostatic agents, etc.
- Identify and treat for shock
- Identify and treat for general medical emergencies: Stroke, Diabetic emergencies, Seizures
- Identify and treat thermal burns
- IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) equipment and selection
- Environmental emergencies: Heat injuries; heat cramps, exhaustion, stroke
- Caleb’s “almost” famous dehydration lecture
- Animal bites/stings; snakes, spiders, bees, dogs, polar bears, etc.
